The current economic crisis has forced more than half of the hotels on Majorca to remain closed for the Easter holidays as the number of bookings drops to record lows.
Miguel Nadal, Minister for Tourism for the Balearic Islands, has recently urged the hotel sector in the Balearics to modernise their facilities in order to stay ahead of competitors from other countries, such as Turkey and Egypt.
A partial collapse of the Hotel Son Moll de Cala Ratjada, Majorca, this week lead to the death of four workmen and the subsequent arrest and detainment of three officials connected to the construction and renovation works being carried out on the hotel.
