Marbella is among the most expensive cities in Spain at the time of having to book a hotel as the average price is 120 Euros. After it, the most expensive hotels are the ones in San Sebastian and hotels in Sitges, with 109 Euros. On the opposite side, being the cheapest hotels in the country, are the hotels in Almeria, 55 Euros; hotels in Puerto de la Cruz, 57 Euros, and hotels in Burgos, Leon and Sabadell, the three of them with a cost of 59 Euros, according to the Hotel Price Index (HPI) developed by hoteles.com.

Hotels in Spain have left behind the summer with an increase regarding customers, as confirmed by the president of the Spanish Confederation of Hotels (CEHAT), Juan Molas, who has noted that during the summer season occupancy in tourist areas and cities our country has risen by 5% if purchased with the same period last year. Of course he added that the increase will not be reflected in the balance sheets and income statements of hotels due to lower prices and last minute deals.

The average price of hotels during the month of September was 93 Euro, 2% lower than during the same period of 2009 and down 6% compared to last August (99 Euros), according to a study done by Trivago. This fact leaves Spain in sixth place of the countries with the cheapest hotels in Europe.

The occupation achieved by hotels in Cadiz (province) during the month of August was 90.27%, which is about 3.6 points more than the one registered during the same period in 2009 when the occupancy rate was 86.67%.
